PET
PET (polyethylene terephthalate) is characterized by a glass temperature of 75-85 °, with the properties of self-hardening in the stretch blowing procedure and crystal clear walls.
If internal pressure stability is not required, materials with low IV (viscosity) can be used (0.72-0.76 IV). High-IV materials of 0.8 IV and higher must be used for carbonated beverages, and for high mechanical requirements.
Special materials which allow rapid crystallization and therefore thermal stability, must be used for hot filling.
